MIXING
RUT NUTS
Mix
RUT NUTS with grain or use it straight, scattering
it by hand or from a mechanical feeder in the fall.
In winter, mix RUT NUTS with up to 5 parts corn or
other grain and taper off to about equal parts RUT
NUTS and corn the month before green-up.
SEASONAL
BENEFITS OF RUT NUTS
FALL
- Use RUT NUTS to provide extra energy and vitamins
to bucks for rutting vigor, and to help does with
high conception rates and fetal retention. Helps
weaning fawns to get ready for winter.
WINTER
- The fat and carbohydrate provides extra energy to
keep bucks in prime shape to start massive antler
growth in spring. RUT NUTS helps does give their
fawns the extra "head start" they need to
become "Megabucks".
SPRING
- Before green-up, the high protein and minerals
provide the building blocks for really big antlers.
DRY
PERIODS - or other times when natural
foods don't provide the high protein needed for good
antler growth, RUT NUTS will.

Feed
blocks are a poor way to feed deer. Deer have very
narrow and elongated jaws with no teeth in the top
front and only very small, forward-angled teeth on
the bottom. Their mouths are designed to strip buds
and leaves and to pick up acorns and nuts, not to
bite chunks from hard blocks. Blocks can be used as
baits and patterning attractants, but not as a
serious food supply. The way to get proper nutrition
into a buck is to provide it in a form he can eat;
pellets he can pick up like natural food.
